LLORANDO

Okay, I'll dispense with the punning. This week's Onion is 90% fucking great, but this little bit gave me pause, then made me clench my jaw, and then made me cry. A bit. The joke is a little too close to the truth. How many dead Iraqis now? I guess we're not keeping track of that. We're keeping such tight count of the coalition casulties (which at last count included 12 Brits who were offed in accidents, 2 in combat, how's that for a ratio?) but the Iraqi civilians are just in the way. Granted, Saddam's options weren't great shakes either. Listening to Fleischer and Rumsfeld got me all in a knot, too. ARGH!

All of the leaders and their people need to go in that arrogant bully cage and just hit each other until they're all dead.

There is a female POW, Shoshana Johnson. She came from a military family. I saw her story last night. She was raised to believe in fighting for the cause. (sotto voce: Look where it gets you.) The other POWs, I don't know about their upbringing. None of them needed to be be there, in any case. I sincerely hope that she doesn't get treated any worse than the men. Likely, though, she will. Grrr....

Will this last years? It will if one side or the other wants to it last years. We can't back out now. The people (sheep) this coalition are fighting are not going to be dispersed if they strike the shepherd and his despotic nasty sons. The "bad guys," as I heard someone on MSNBC call the Iraq regular military and the paramilitary black-shirted brutalizing regiments, will still be in charge, and someone else will take his/their place.

MORE MORE...
Apparently, we're sending dolphins to do SEAL's work, too. There is a shitload of mines in the bay through which the humanitarian aid we promised them has to come, and we're sending dolphins to get blown up instead.

Good godsdamn, people. The world's going crazy and not in a good way.

Nature's not happy. Check the weather.

Chaos theory would have it that the sandstorm raging over there now may have been started or exacerbated by any given air movement. (pfffft...blowing). There. That's my contribution. You wonder whose side I take? Now you know. I'm on the dolphins' side (swim away!!); I hope the fucking sandstorm wins. Remember, Nature has a way of restoring itself. (keep telling yourself that...)

Wait. Hold on. I'll gather some confidence in humanity and state the following as my official stance, as well as the above:

JULIE'S OFFICIAL "I WISH..." STATEMENT:
A culture hero will rise out of the oppresesed members of the Iraqi populace, rally them, summon the coalition forces already there to his (her?) side and overthrow the regime from within, WITHOUT the need for external leadership.

Now THAT would be worth celebrating.

(Mythology and literature classes, bullshit anyway, right? Brainwashed liberal intellectuals with their edumacations and books and whatnot.)

FRUSTRATION

With this idiotic war, with Mel Gibson turning out to be a grade-A schmuck (I suspected but forgave because I thought he was cute), with work dwindling to a trickle and nightmares of plane crashes, what's a girl to do?

I find myself growing a bit inarticulate and wanting to crawl into a tree and hide. Don't come after me, because I'll bite you.
