OVER THERE

I just got off the phone with Morgan. She's having a blast with Joan and Rachel. They've set up housekeeping and now Mo and Rachel are set to paint an entire room all different colors. They've been down to the seashore, but Mo didn't want to go by the water because of all the seaweed on the beach. Huh.

She's been eating Weetabix for breakfast. Why didn't I see that coming?

She misses us...awww...I miss her too, and so does Josh. She's bringing me back a 5-pound note as a souvenir.

OVER HERE

Child-free life is not quite as rampant with deja vu as I thought it might be. Last time I was in Mukwonago child-free, I was pregnant and unemployed. Now, not so much.

Josh is a damn fine cook. I've been instructing him on things such as deglazing and reductions.

We saw the Hulk movie, and you know what? I was impressed. I didn't know what to expect, as I've shied away from comics-cum-movies, but thus far I haven't been disappointed. We went with one of Josh's coworkers, who is as big of a geek as we are, maybe more (?!?). Yeah, you heard me. He's at least a head taller than both of us, so sure he's bigger. He also has an uncanny resemblance to a certain fictional character with a lightning bolt shaped scar and a way with snakes. After that we met up with another coworker and sat and chatted at Webb's. That was more the child-free deja vu I was looking for...sitting around laughing in a 24-hour diner, post-thunderstorm nighttime humidity and cool wind, feeling quite a bit younger than I am...I like that feeling. I like feeling like a newly-graduated high school student. I spent my 18th summer working like a dog up north in forestry for the DNR, so maybe I'll get a small chance to relive it in a frolic, like I should have done.

OVEREXPOSURE

I love the sun. Despite the fact that I am indeed a natural redhead, I seem to tan quite easily after the initial pinkness. Odd, that. Josh, on the other hand, should probably stay in the shade. His burn is fading into a light tan now, but overall he's far more sensitive to the sun than I am. He's definitely more lunar.

Although with the blonde hair and the tinge of tan...if he had that all over, he'd look like an itinerant surfer. He'd need a puka shell necklace a la '70s...heh heh...POOKA shells? I didn't know they had shells. I thought they had fur.

It'll be odd to see him fair-skinned and dark-haired again. It's odd to see myself with tank-top-shorts tan lines. I'll miss them come October.

RAMBLIN'

Okay, so I drove Morgan to Josh's mom's place on Friday and came back on Saturday, dropping Joan, Rachel and Mo off at the airport on the way. We jumped on the trampoline a lot. I was mistaken for an 18-year-old at a high school battle of the bands.

Re: Flight to England
We just heard, all is well. They're in Swanage e'en as I type this.

Re: Other stuff
Josh is blonde. Narf. Cute. Needs eyeliner and leather and a sneer. I never want to drive again as long as I live. Driving through Michigan was fun, though; I got the Echo up over 100 mph for quite a bit of it, and no one seemed to notice. I now know all the words to all the songs on "Ocean Rain."

Re: Continuation of this blog
I think I will, BUT...the experimental, perhaps disturbing and TMI will not be front page. You'll have to go elsewhere for that. This will continue to be the place where parenting, hiking, work gripes and other safe-for-work links will go.

Box a bit clever and you'll find the naughty bits, once they come about.
