ABANDONING SHIP

Here's a thing: The less time I spend in front of my computer, the better I feel. I do the requisite 8 hours of transcription, occasionally 9 or 10, and that's all I want to do. I don't want to surf, I don't want to chat, I don't want to be glued to my chair for any longer than I have to be (glued to my chair, grammar police).

I've found I prefer the phone, paper books and periodicals, and face-to-face interaction to the net. Please tell me you're not surprised.

Thus - at least for now - a penultimate post again. I say penultimate because I'm fickle and may change my mind, but it'll be the last one for quite a while. I mean, if you could up your pay by 5 or 6 bucks an hour by curtailing your internet activity, wouldn't you do it? At the rate I've been going the last few days, I'm tapping out (drum roll) $18 an hour by not screwing around so much on the net.

Debriefing: Yes, Thanksgiving kicked some foodie ass. Those dunes need to be brought to THIS side of the lake.

Josh is nearly becoming a Pratchett convert.

We are in the process of developing a eurosyncretic winter holiday thing that incorporates a lot of old pagan stuff, newer pop culture stuff, a smidge of the Judeaic bent just for fairness, and personalizing it a la Julie, Josh and Mo. Thus, I believe we're going to have more than one day of holiday, with assloads of candles and a few days of presents (a bit Haunakah-ish and Saturnalia-ish) from a jolly old elf (Santa), more resurrection and sun child and evergreen and solstice symbology than you could shake a bough of holly at (old Yuletide), some stargazing and someone's birthday, PLUS some revelry that is not even NC-17 (again, bits of Saturnalia). To top it all off, we have an 8-pointed Erisian star on top of our tree. Hail, hail, hail. Very likely we'll have some Kwanzaa elements in there too (the food, the food, the food). So, happy, er, Winter.

I've had to shoo more Christian and variant evangelists away from my door today than I have all year long. I'm a bit less polite now than I used to be. Especially to the Mormons. Mormonism has left an awful taste in my mouth and I want nothing to do with it, and were I of a mind to do so, I'd denounce it from sea to shining sea. Baptist? Sorry. Lutheran? Nope. Catholic scrabbling for charity? No, I give via secular means. Geez, people.

Josh and I are happy as bunnies in Ecstasy-laced clover together, in case anyone was wondering. He has purple hair. PURPLE! Hee. What a silly. But he's cute.

So. Bye now. I'll see you when I've got nothing better to do. For now, I have a holiday to create and metric assloads of money to make, not to mention cookies.
